NatHERS Energy Rating

Building or renovating a house is an important decision. There are many factors to consider such as budget, location or functionality. Good design can save you money on energy bills, while improving thermal comfort and resale value of your home.

If you are building a new home or undertaking major renovations, you will need to meet state and/or territory building energy efficiency requirements based on the National Construction Code (NCC).

The most common way to meet these requirements is by getting NatHERS certificate with star rating and stamped final building plans ready to be submitted with your building permit application

To issue NatHERS Certificate, the assessor must be accredited with an Assessor Accrediting Organisation (AAO). There are currently three AAO's in Australia. Our assessors are fully accredited and insured with HERA - the House Energy Raters Association - https://hera.asn.au

From supplied building plans, the assessor will model the dwelling using approved house rating software. We are accredited to use FirstRate 5, BERS Pro and Hero.

Apart from regulatory rating we can also help at planning stage (before the final building plans are drawn) by running different scenarios (variations) in non-regulatory mode to compare ratings for different building materials or features, type and size of windows, etc. The variations can help you achieve your objective (star compliance, budget, sustainability) before you commit any funds to your building or renovation project.
